
Teaching Tortoise School of Feng Shui - Ongoing Course Curriculum
Module 1: History & Foundation of Feng Shui: January 12th -10:30am - 5pm
This module consist of exploring the roots of feng shui and how it manifested in China. In this module, the student will be guided on how the ancient sages discovered the workings of the cosmos and its impact on basic survival techniques-to the building of great cities. Key aspects behind the foundation of feng shui principles will also be examined for future classes to build on including King Fu Xi's contribution of the Earlier Heavenly Ba-gua sequence and Yu The Great's Later Heavenly arrangement. Other materials covered include:
- Chinese Calendar
- 24 qi seasons
- Yin and Yang movement of the Tai Chi
- Confucius & Lao Tzu Teachings
- Development of the LoPan
- 24 Mountain Ring
Module 2: Form School Principles: Feb. 2 10:30am-5pm
Form school is one of the two original schools of feng shui and known as the ·Mother· of feng shui. The connection between the land and man's basic survival is extraordinary. The student will learn how to recognize the ancient land topography dynamics including:
- Assessing mountain and water landscapes (ShanShui)
- Mountain classifications
- Dragon veins & the Dragon's lair
- Water dragon formations
- Yin and Yang water configurations
- Water dragon formulas
- Interpretation of modern day topography & internal spaces
*Note: Students will walk the area to observe landforms
Module 3: Qi Dynamics: March 2nd 10:30am - 5pm
It is a natural law that energy cannot be created or destroyed. The Taoist concept that qi is in a constant state of flux can be substantiated in Einstein's Theory of Relativity. Here, energy forms matter and when matter is dispersed it creates energy again! This module will delve into:
- Analysis of Qi
- Energy flux
- Directionology
- Seasonal qi patterns
- Earth's qi, sheng qi, sha qi & how to assess the different types of qi
- Rules for placing the front door and internal doors
- Correlation between low qi and human disease
- Evaluation of qi in key rooms
- Common feng shui remedies
Module 4: Yin/Yang & The Five Elemental Phases: March 23rd 10:30 am - 5 pm
The students will learn the dynamics of yin and yang, the five elements and their impact on life. The following topics covered in this module include:
- The dynamics of Yin and Yang energies
- Yin & Yang as seen in the seasons (24 qi points)
- Yin & Yang environments, food & anatomy
- Yin and Yang in Designing
- Explanation of the 5 Core Chinese Elements
- Sheng, Reducing, Destructive & Tonification Cycles
- 5 Elements in designing: Fabrics, Materials & Colors
Module 5: Ba-gua Mechanics & Trigram Building: April 28th 10:30 am - 5 pm
The bagua is the major tool utilized by all practitioners in the world. This class will analyze the basis of trigram building and the meanings behind the trigrams including:
- Trigram building
- Trigram definitions
- Pre/Post heavenly arrangement analysis
- He Tu & Lo Shu discussions
- Significance of the Magic Square (Sigel of Saturn)
- Mapping out the symbolic ba-gua
- Working the compass (facing & sitting positions)
- Transferring directions to the floor plan
- Locating the center point
- How to use the ba-gua as a compass
*Note: You may bring your floor plan to this class, as each student will be required to discuss trigram positions, décor, elemental balance, and potential cures for their space.
Module 6: The Power of Directions: Working With The Ming Gua & Bazhai: May 6th & May 17th: 10:30 am - 5 pm
Learn the basic yet powerful compass methods used to determine your best personal directions for health and wealth and the best energy for your home! This module will cover:
- How to construct the 8 trigrams
- Discover the power of the Lo Shu Grid
- How to work with the Ming Gua effectively
- How to work with the house portents effectively
- How to Apply tis information to floor plans including placement of rooms, wet rooms, door positions and much more!
*Note: Student should bring their floor plans
Module 7: Floor Plans Designs For Health & Eco-Living - 2 Part Series: June 3rd & 14th: 10:30 am - 5 pm
In this module we will begin assessing all aspects of design that can cause ill-health including:
- Internal and external architecture
- Calculating missing corners and/or extensions
- Assessing building materials, fabrics, lighting, synthetics & green design
- Street designs & signs in relation to dwelling
- Surrounding Man-made structures
- Property & lot analysis including vegetation, landscape and soil
- Analysis yin absorbable qi and yin perm qi
- CO2 emissions & carbon footprint
- Solar Resources
- Indoor air pollution and ventilation systems
- Eco-effectiveness in design
- Safe-lighting

Module 8: Unseen Energies ~ Dowsing & Geopathic Stress: July 12th ~ 10:00 - 5pm
In this module we will continue to assess problematic issues that an affect our health. More specifically, we will examine the seen and unseen energies that surround our environment. The student will learn about:
- The history of ley lines
- Stone circle formations & natural earth alignment
- Underground water veins and sinews
- Black-line streams, geopathic lines & sick building syndrome
- Earth alignment Procedures
- Electromagnetic frequencies
- Reading the tripak meter
- How to correct man-made EMF·s
- Indoor dowsing (10, 170, 250, 400 meter grid sytems)
Module 9: Land Ceremonies Field Trip & Indoor Space Clearing: July 13 & 14thth ~ 11:00 am start time.
This module focuses on clearing techniques for the land and internally to the structure.
Part 1:
- Students will spend time practicing earth clearing techniques with dowsing rods, pendulum, and earth acupuncture tools.
- Students will build a Native American Wheel and take part in a Peruvian Despacho Ceremony.
Part 2:
- Students will learn about the different types of space clearning techniques for inside the structure & how to cleanse their space clearing tools.
- Studetns will perform an actual house clearing ceremony.
*Note: Wear comfortable clothing & shoes
*Tools: Compass, Dowsing Rods, Pendulum, water bottle, copper rod & holly stem (18 inch)

Module 10: Corporate Feng Shui: September 14th & 21st: 10:30 am - 6 pm
This is a 2 day seminar that focuses on office and commercial enterprise. Many feng shui techniques are specialized when performing a consultation for business or corporate scenarios. In this 2 day seminar the students will learn:
- The different elemental building shapes
- How to work with CEO or Partner power points
- Key locations for business
